Getting to know Todd Jones…

I became a lawyer because… we, as Americans, have inherited a legal system which is the envy of the world. I wanted to be a part of that system.

What I like most about the law is… that it provides me the opportunity to help those who are unable to help themselves.

When you need an attorney… I think it is important to know your lawyer. Meet him or her personally if possible. Talk to him or her at length on the telephone. Get a sense of the person and his or her experience. Obviously, the reputation of the lawyer and the firm for which the attorney works is also extremely important.

My most rewarding case was… I participated in a case representing the surviving children of a man who was killed in a gas pipeline explosion. We were successful in obtaining a $12 million settlement for his children. While certainly nothing will replace their father, they were glad that the company responsible for his death was held accountable for its negligent actions.

My most disappointing case was… A case where I represented a horribly injured man who became my friend during his case. While we obtained all of the available insurance money for him, there simply wasn't enough coverage to compensate him fully. The person who caused the injuries had no money or assets of his own for us to pursue.

If I had to attempt another profession, I would try… journalism because I am interested in world events and enjoy writing.

Someone I really admire is… my wife. She's a great mother and an even better wife.

My favorite sport's team is… The Texas Longhorns, my alma mater.

When not at work, I enjoy… Golf
